Anxiety is experienced as an activation of stored energy usually brought on by energy bound in the body from previous or ongoing overwhelming situations. This energy is often stored in the central nervous system and fear is the corresponding emotion. The desire to flee or get away is the impulse.
Most of us are unaware of how to restore our balance and calm. We get caught in the activation which causes many changes in our bodies. Our nervous system amps up, as does our energy. Our energy rises upwards in our bodies, primarily above our solar plexus. It speeds up in frequency giving us that antsy or speedy feeling. Fear becomes the primary emotion. Our focus narrows as we find ourselves in the past reliving an issue or in the future worried or frightened that the unimaginable will happen.
This is the feeling of the uncontrolled spin of anxiety.... too hyped, too much fear, being caught in the mental merry-go-round and not being able to get off.
But you can manage your anxiety. You can come back to balance by reversing these symptoms. You can learn to manage this state by taking actions which I call the “4 S's + 2. Shake, Separate, Slow down, Shift plus Smile and Savor. Through the practice and application of these four strategies plus two, in the office or at home, you determine your progress and ultimately, create your success. They are listed in the strategies menu and may be copied.
Your anxiety can also be repaired and transformed by engaging in additional Body-Centered Trauma Recovery Therapy as well as Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (on hold for the present). This also includes learning additional skills to support you daily.
My goal is to help you respond and engage in life instead of continuing to be caught in anxiety and old patterns.
